The Tale That Depicts How Kalawa (Moli) Came Into Existence

Hinduism is a belief having many ways to get rid of the evil and mishaps. If you happen to follow them with all your heart and might, then for sure you will get positive results. Among all these rituals and techniques, wearing threads in different body parts also have their own significance.

You must have spotted quite a lot of Hindu followers wearing a variety of threads. Various colors like red, orange, white, black and yellow exist in the section of sacred threads. Not all threads can be worn by anyone nor for any purpose. They have their own specific reasons and persons.

Mauli is a red thread, used for a number of religious purposes and it signifies the showering of holy blessings.

# It is a cotton string, mostly in red colour with small bits of yellow, holding some miraculous power to save you from evil energy. It sometimes has knots which are tied up while reciting Sanskrit mantras and is worn to ward off negative energy away from the person who wears this red thread.

# One day, the king of the deities, Indra, was worried about the battle between the Gods and the demons. The demons were in a strong position, in comparison to the gods. His wife Indrani could not see him worried and requested the God to help her husband. Indrani prepared a talisman with her spiritual power and tied it around Lord Indra's right wrist to safeguard him from the attack of demons. The gods won the battle and it came to be known as Kalawa.

# In the Vamana avatar, Lord Vishnu pushed King Bali into the underworld. It is believed that he tied a red thread on the wrist of Bali to grant him immortality. This incident began the practice of tying a red Kalawa on the wrist of people to grant them long lives.

# From the ancient time priests believe that our complete body is control by the wrist vein. So, if we tie Mauli on the wrist, it helps regulate the body's blood circulation.

# If we wear it on the wrist, it will help purify our thoughts and turn them into positive ones. # Wearing Kalawa saves you from evil spirits and negative energy. It is one of the best ways to protect our aura from evil forces.
