Wild Water Buffalo is a large bovine live in India, mostly in Assam and restricted to in and around Kaziranga, Manas and Dibru-Saikhowa National Parks. Water buffalo (Bubalus arnee) is native to the Indian Subcontinent and also found in few scattered pockets in Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and Chhattisgarh.

Kaziranga National Park is home to largest population large herbivores including gaur,sambar, Barasingha and Indian elephant. The park has largest population of wild Asiatic water buffalo in India along with the Greater One-Horned Rhinoceros and highest density of tigers in India.
