The Best Time To Get Intimate is Not Night

Experts have revealed that the peak time for a heterosexual couple to have sex is bang on 3pm – when men and women are most in tune with each other’s hormones and desires.

Explaining the logic in her hormone guide 'WomanCode', Vitti describes 3pm as the time when men have the most elevated levels of oestrogen in their bodies – making them ‘more emotionally present’ during sex.

The author also suggests that 3pm represents the time where women have high levels of the hormone cortisol, which helps alertness, meaning the female partner is at her most energetic.

While men are known to appreciate some morning action between the sheets, Vitti explains that the late afternoon is when men’s oestrogen levels rise, which makes them more responsive emotionally to a partner:

“While this may not seem like a logical set-up for satisfaction, given the previous endorsement of testosterone, the combination actually makes men more emotionally present during sex and better able to focus on (a woman’s) needs and satisfaction.

"You can see why “afternoon delight” is a thing."

While the afternoon might be a peak time, Vitti also understands that this isn’t always possible with work routines, so suggests attempting to sync your libidos to have a mutually satisfying experience.

She also adds that the best time of the month to have sex was during the ten days after ovulation, when ‘women experience a surge in oestrogen and testosterone that causes their desire to skyrocket’.
