An Indian teenager allegedly raped by two of her teachers suffered brain damage after they forced her to have an abortion, it has been claimed.

Police say the 18-year-old girl was targeted over a three-month period at a school in the city of Sikar, in the northern Indian state of Rajasthan.

She lost consciousness after two men accused of attacking her forced her to undergo an abortion at a private hospital, officers say.

The teenager had been taken to the medical centre after complaining of stomach pains before staff discovered she was expecting a child.

Her condition started to deteriorate after an abortion took place, though it is not yet clear why there were complications, investigators said.
