5 Tried and Tested Remedies For Seasonal Skin Allergies

Redness of the skin, rashes, a burning sensation, changes in skin colour and swelling are all symptoms that indicate skin allergies. An allergy can affect any part of the body. Cosmetics and certain foods (like nuts and shellfish) are the most common causes of skin allergies. While a dermatologist will prescribe antibiotic medications and creams to treat the allergy, you can also try these simple natural remedies to treat it at home.

* Olive Oil

Olive oil is a natural moisturiser that is rich in Vitamin E and antioxidants, which promote healing and skin renewal. Mix some honey into a bowl of olive oil and apply this mixture on your rash directly, to prevent the itching.

* Aloe Vera

Aloe vera has amazing anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antifungal qualities that work wonders for the skin. Regular application of aloe vera promotes healing and reduces the redness of the rash. Extract fresh aloe vera gel from the leaves of the plant and apply it on the affected area directly. Let it be for 30 minutes and then wash it off using plain water. Repeat this thrice a day to get rid of your skin allergies completely.

* Ice Cubes

Itching and swelling are the most uncomfortable symptoms of skin allergies. The best way to manage this discomfort is to apply a cold compress on the affected area. Place 3-4 ice cubes in a plastic bag and place it on your skin. Repeat this 3-4 times a day to facilitate quick healing. You can also dip a cotton handkerchief in a bowl of chilled water and place it on the affected area.

* Mint Leaves

Mint leaves can be used to reduce the swelling and soothe the burning sensation. The best way to use pudina is to crush fresh leaves to make a paste and apply it on your skin. Let it be for 30 minutes and then rinse it off.

* Lemon

Lemon is packed with Vitamin C and has bleaching properties as well, making it one of the best natural remedies for skin problems. Simply apply lemon juice on the affected area and let it dry. It might burn initially, but the lemon will heal the itching quickly. Wash it off with water.
