Stand-up comedian Pranit More breaks silence on ‘₹370 biryani’ row, admits lapse in judgment and apologises

Stand-up comedian Pranit More has finally addressed the ongoing controversy linked to Gurugram-based attendee Himanshu Jangra, whose “₹370 biryani” remark made during More’s live show recently went viral and triggered widespread backlash. In his latest statement, More accepted responsibility for the situation, admitting that although the comments made during the act were inappropriate, he failed to intervene in time and allowed the moment to escalate as the audience reacted with laughter.

The comedian had already issued an initial apology earlier, but this is the first time he has openly detailed his perspective on the incident and acknowledged where things went wrong. Authorities have since taken cognisance of the matter, and the Maharashtra Cyber Police has registered an FIR against Pranit More along with several others connected to the event.

Pranit More returns to social media, says he accepts criticism

On Saturday, Pranit More, whose Instagram account had been temporarily suspended, reappeared on social media with a video statement in which he conceded that the backlash directed at him is justified. He said, “Aap sabne mera crowd work ka video dekha hoga, jiske liye mujhe kaafi hate mil rahi hai, aur mujhe lagta hai main yeh hate deserve bhi karta hoon. Kyunki us ladke se jab main crowd work kar raha tha, usne kaafi derogatory cheezein boli, but sab log us par hass rahe the. Main bhi carried away ho gaya aur mujhse lapse in judgement ho gaya. Yeh meri kaafi badi galti thi. Main chahta toh usse wahan par rok sakta tha ya stand le sakta tha, jo main nahi kar paaya. Maine usse ek platform diya, jiski wajah se yeh cheezein itni escalate ho gayi.”

He further added, “Jinko bhi iss wajah se hurt hua hai, un sabse main maafi maangna chahta hoon. Jo bhi legal proceedings mere against ho rahi hain, uske liye main authorities ke saath co-operate bhi kar raha hoon. Main yehi request karna chahta hoon ki please mujhe ek chance do, main better insaan banke dikhaunga. Mere liye bhi ek learning thi, toh main khud par aur mere content ke upar bhi kaam karunga. Yeh cheez mere future ke kaam mein bhi dekh paoge,” expressing regret and promising improvement in his future work.

Maharashtra Cyber Police files FIR in comedy show controversy

Meanwhile, the Maharashtra Cyber Police had earlier registered an FIR on Thursday naming stand-up comedian Pranit More, Himanshu Jangra, Dr. Sejal Pawar, and others in connection with allegedly obscene remarks made during the Gurugram comedy performance. According to officials, the statements made during the show reportedly crossed acceptable legal boundaries, prompting action against those involved.

A senior police official confirmed that the cyber wing is actively monitoring online content and will continue to take strict measures against material that is found to be offensive, unlawful, or detrimental to public order and societal dignity.
