5 Fashion Mistakes That Make You Look Old

We want to look and be at our best at all times. However, there are times when we fall prey to trends and make the wrong choices that make us look heavier than you are. Here are 5 fashion mistakes that are unconsciously making you look bigger than you are.

* Skinny Jeans

Skinny jeans look great on some, but for those on the heavier side, there is a chance that skinny jeans will put emphases on the wrong parts. Remember, the greater the struggle to get in to your jeans, the greater the chances that they are going to make you look bigger than you are.

* Wearing loose ill-fitted clothes

Curvy women often have a tendency to get into loose flowy clothes, in a bid to hide their curves. But remember, chances are that these clothes will only have you looking broader than you really are. So, even if you have a large waist, do not shy away from putting a belt on it. (ref pic below). They will actually add more dimension to your look.

* Leave those turtlenecks behind

Turtlenecks are the worst when it comes to looking broader than you are (ref pic below). Your neck is one of the skinniest parts of the body, so when you are covering it up, it makes for a monotonous look with no real breaks between your head and body, making you look larger. Opt for an off shoulder top / or a deep V-neck which creates more area around the neck, making you appear thinner.

* Printed Pants

If you love the printed pants trend, watch out. Prints are known to add dimension to the body, so it is best you steer clear of this trend if you happen to be bottom-heavy. Rather, opt for a printed top with one-colour trousers. And if you must wear printed pants, make sure you choose small prints.

* Flared Skirts

Skirts have never been more in fashion than they are now. And of course, the variety on offer is mindboggling. So, if you happen to have a slightly broader frame, we would advise you to stay away from the flared variety, as they add unnecessary volume to the way you look. Instead, opt for a straight skirt, or a pleated straight skirt in a single colour. Layer it well, and you are set!
