Fruit Diet Has Certain Health Benefits Read About Them

Fruit diet, commonly called a fruitarian diet, is a highly restrictive vegan diet that excludes all the animal products, including dairy products. So, if we are skipping all the animal products, dairy products, cooked foods, processed foods, and vegetables, one main question arises in our mind is that “Is fruit diet healthy and safe?” To be frank, a fruit diet is not entirely safe and healthy because this diet may cause malnourishment. Several nutrients that are crucial for the body are lacking in this fruitarian diet. Additionally, this diet is also heavy on sugar, causing diabetes, pre-diabetes, or insulin resistance. Hence, most of the nutritionists around the world do not recommend following this diet.

Fruit diet is said to contain fewer nutrients that are required for the metabolism and development of the immune system. Apart from all this, the fruit diet has certain health benefits.

* High Fiber Content

Most of the fruits are considered to be rich in fiber content. This fiber helps in lowering the cholesterol levels in the blood and also encourages better bowel movements and reduces constipation. Blackberries, apple, raspberries, and pears are some of the fruits that are rich in fiber content.

* Potassium-rich

Some fruits such as mangoes, bananas, cantaloupe, and guavas are high in potassium. This potassium helps in maintaining healthy blood pressure and regulating fluid balance in the body.

* Vitamin C

Fruits usually are a good source of Vitamin C, and some fruits such as Oranges, strawberries, and red peppers are very rich in Vitamin C. This vitamin supports the immune system and also helps keep the teeth and gums healthy.

* Antioxidant

Antioxidants are compounds that inhibit the process of oxidation, thereby limiting the production of free radicals. These antioxidants protect your skin and fight off any illness. Some fruits which are rich in antioxidants are prunes, black plums, and all the berries. These are sometimes called as free-radical scavengers.

* Rich In Folate

Tropical fruits such as mangoes, oranges are rich in folate, which helps the body to create red blood cells. This folate also supports fetal development.

* Weight Loss

Fruits are usually low in calories. Low-calorie intake helps in weight loss. If your goal is to reduce the weight, you can switch to this diet. But, don’t consider this as a real benefit, since any weight loss can disappear if you abandon the diet, and your weight will start bouncing back.
