Recipe- Nice and Healthy Masala Oats Khichdi

Healthy and filling masala oats and moong dal khichdi that would make a nice and filling lunch for busy weekdays.Oats are generally considered a health food, being very nutritious and have one cholesterol lowering effects.So considered it benefits, porridge oats are must in our breakfast daily without fail.Sometimes I would love to add seasonal fruits, dry fruits, and nuts to make it more healthy.

Ingredients

1 cup rolled oats
1/4 cup yellow moong dal
1 carrot chopped
1/4 cup peas fresh or frozen
1 tomato chopped
1 onion chopped
2 green chillies chopped
1 teaspoon ginger grated
1 teaspoon garlic grated
few curry leaves

Spices

1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon garam masala
1 teaspoon red chilly powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
salt to taste
1 tablespoon oil
2 cup water

Method

* Dry roast the oats in keep aside.

* Heat oil in a pan and add ginger, garlic and curry leaves.Stir and add green chilli and chopped onions.Fry the onions for few minutes.

* Add carrots and peas.Cook for a minute or two and add chopped tomatoes.

* Then add all spices and salt.Finally, add 2 cup water and moong dal. Cook for a whistle or until dal is tender if using a pan on simmer.

* Once dal is done, add oats, stir and cook for 5-7 minutes or till all water is absorbed.

* Remove from heat and serve warm garnished with chopped coriander leaves.
