Ambrosial dessert made of 4 layers– cake, jelly, fruit and custard. This super-easy dessert looks gorgeous, tastes divine and takes no time to prepare.

Ingredients

2 tablespoons vanilla custard powder
3 cups milk
2 tablespoons sugar
1 sachet of raspberry jelly
8-10 slices of strawberry jam swiss-roll
1 cup chopped fruits of your choice
6-7 cherries with stems (can be replaced by strawberries)
1/2 cup blueberries (can be replaced by red grapes)
2 tablespoons chopped pistachios

Method

* Boil milk in a saucepan. When the milk is lukewarm, take 2 tablespoons out in a bowl and mix custard powder in it to make a paste. Mix well to avoid any lumps.

* When the milk boils, reduce the heat to low and add the custard paste to the milk slowly stirring continuously.

* Add sugar and simmer it (while stirring continuously) till it becomes thick and creamy. Take it out in a bowl and keep aside to let it cool. When it reaches room temperature, keep it in the refrigerator.

* Prepare the jelly as per instructions on the pack. Pour the jelly mixture in a bowl and keep in the refrigerator to let the jelly set. Do not keep it in the freezer. The jelly should be set in about half an hour.

* After 30 minutes, check if the jelly is set otherwise keep it in the fridge for some more time to allow the jelly to set properly.

* Take a glass bowl as shown in the picture. Line the sides with slices of swiss roll and then place some slices to cover the base of the bowl.

* Cut the jelly into cubes. Scatter the jelly cubes on top of the swiss cake slices. Place a few cubes on the edges so that they are visible from the side of the glass bowl.

* Add a layer of chopped fruits on top of the jelly cubes and spread them evenly with the help of a spoon.

* Pour the cold custard on top of the fruit layer.

* Garnish with cherries, blueberries and chopped pistachios.
* Refrigerate till ready to serve.
