* Beeswax Lip Balm

Take 1 tablespoon grated beeswax and melt it in a boiler. When it is about half-way done, add 1 tablespoon of extra virgin coconut oil and a dash of natural honey. Blend the ingredients together. Add 2 capsules of Vitamin E to the mixture. Mix it properly and allow it to cool. When the mixture is cool, transfer it into a tin or a lip balm container.

* Maple Syrup Lip Balm

Add the 4 grams cocoa butter, 3 grams coconut oil, 5 grams beeswax, 4 grams sweet almond oil, 2 grams soy lecithin, and 4 grams dark maple syrup into a double boiler and let the ingredients melt over medium heat. Remove from heat and whisk. Continue whisking the mixture as it cools. Let it set in room temperature and transfer it into containers for use.

* Peppermint Oil Lip Balm

Heat 1 tablespoon of beeswax in a double boiler and when it is halfway done, add 1 teaspoon of extra virgin coconut oil. Add 1 teaspoon of sweet almond oil and blend it properly. Blend in 2 – 3 drops of peppermint essential oil into the mixture and let it cool. Transfer the mixture into containers as desired and let it set.

* Lime Lip Balm

Take 1 tablespoon coconut oil, 1 teaspoon beeswax, 1 teaspoon cocoa butter and 1 teaspoon sweet almond oil in a double boiler and heat. Stir constantly to ensure that all the ingredients are blending in properly. Remove it from heat and add 5 – 10 drops of lime essential oil. Stir the mixture well and pour it into desired containers. Allow it to cool and set. One it sets, your homemade lime lip balm is ready for use!

* Berries Lip Balm

Take 2 raspberries and 2 blackberries and blend them into a pulp. Take 1 tablespoon coconut oil, 1 teaspoon beeswax,1 teaspoon sweet almond oil in a double boiler and heat. Add the berries pulp into the mixture and stir properly to blend all ingredients. Transfer the contents into desired containers and allow to cool. Once it cools, it will set and will be ready to use. This lip balm will also add a hint of berries shade to your lips. You can either use fresh berries or frozen ones for this DIY recipe.

While most of these recipes recommend using double boiler, the same can be done using a microwave for 10 – 20 seconds.It is important to ensure that the containers you are using to set the lip balm should be free to avoid any contamination. Also, to benefit the most from these homemade lip balms, allow them to set in the room temperature. Once it is set, the best way to store it is to refrigerate it.
