Tips To Keep Your Skin Healthy in Your 20s and 30s

As you age, your skin changes. Each year, you may notice new lines, spots, and wrinkles. Even though you cannot stop aging, you can slow this process for as long as possible. It all comes down to the small things you do every day.

Exposure to UV rays is the primary cause of aging. Sure, tanned skin looks fabulous, but the effects you’ll experience later aren’t worth the risk. Inflammation, free radicals, hormonal fluctuations, and stress contribute to aging as well. Fortunately, it’s in your power to control these factors and keep your skin young.

# What to Do in Your 20s

The things you do for your skin in your 20s will influence its health and appearance over the next decades. Applying a moisturizer every now and then isn’t enough to keep your skin glowing and prevent aging.

First, give up smoking and other bad habits. Cigarette smoking increases free radical levels, which in turn, accelerate aging and damages your skin. Second, make a habit out of applying sunscreen before leaving home, including on the cold winter days.

Your daily beauty routine should include a gentle cleanser, a moisturizing cream, an eye cream, and sun protection – at a minimum. Exfoliate your skin at least once a week. Don’t forget to remove your makeup before bedtime.

# Skincare in Your 30s

Once you reach your 30s, your skincare routine should include the same habits as those in your 20s plus a few others. If you haven’t used an eye cream or serum before, now is the time to do it.

Also, consider using two moisturizing creams – one for daytime and one that needs to be applied at night. This way, your skin will stay nourished around the clock.

Give up any cosmetics and skin care products that contain alcohol. They are too harsh for your skin and can dry it out. Hydration should be your priority.

Ideally, choose a moisturizer that’s rich in antioxidants so it can ward off environmental stressors. Apply it on your face and neck. Facial oils can help too.
