On June 25, 1983, after the Kapil Dev-led team representing Indian won the World Cup at Lord’s without a coach or support staff, the one man who was arguably their backbone was manager P.R. Man Singh to rely on. In Kabir Khan’s rendition of the epic win starring Ranveer Singh, Bollywood’s darling Pankaj Tripathi is all set to slip into the part. Looking uncannily similar to the real life Man Singh, Pankaj brings in Man’s wisdom and experience to the table.
Man had a unique one on one equation with the players. He had seen them grow up since their early days of playing state championships. It’s unanimously agreed that he never imposed on them his views but he was always there to hear them out in times or trouble. His sense of humour is well known and it was he who was the glue binding them all. It was eventually the pride of playing for the country that kept them together. With his impressive First look, Pankaj has been able to tap into all these emotions, emerging as the man who holds the team together. Well, that’s what Ranveer said.
