Situated in the mesmerizing location of Himachal Pradesh, the temple which has been dedicated to Hadimba Devi – a Hindu Goddess, is in Manali. As Manali is one of the most popular tourist places, it would be visited by many people all over the world. The temple dedicated to Hadimba has a strong mythological story which thus captivates people to have faith in the goddess. Built-in 1553 A.D by Maharaja Bahadur Singh, the Hidimba Devi temple is actually built around a cave where Devi Hidimba used to meditate. Who else could forget the amazing episodes of Mahabharat or the recreation of the old one which kept our pandemic days engaged? The mythological figure Hidimbi was believed to have lived there with her brother Hidimb. As she was born into a Rakshasa family, Hidimba had vowed to marry someone who would beat her brother Hidimb and the person was supposed to be courageous. While the Pandavas were in exile, they visited Manali. Later, it was Bhima – one of the five Pandavas killed Hidimb and married Hidimba. They both gave birth to their son named Ghatotkacha.

When it comes to the temple’s architecture, it is completely unique in style. Well, the temple stands enchanting amidst the greeny tall trees. While you could fell the divine bliss, you would love to see the Pagoda-styled architecture of the Northern part of India. Yet another thing which captures your eyes would be the rock-seat of Hadimba which is the main Sanctorum. This is actually where the goddess used to meditate. Further, the deodar-shaped top would make you understand how the locals are living one among the nature of Himachal. The most interesting thing is that during Navarati, the country’s people would worship the goddess Durga but the people of Manali use to worship Hidimba Devi.

The temple is encircled by a cedar forest called Dhungiri Van Vihar at the foot of the Himalayas. The Himalayas already being the dreamland on the planet and the places situated around it would be undeniably amazing. Also, there is a shrine for the son of Hidimba Devi, Ghatotkacha which attracts the eyes of the people. The best time to visit the temple is during the Dusshera festival where you cool the unimaginable vibe all over you. Even though it could be open throughout the year, it could be amazing when you visit it during festival time.
