Manoj Bajpayee Describes His New Upcoming Release The Governor

The excitement surrounding Governor, starring Manoj Bajpayee, continues to build as the film nears its release. Set against the backdrop of one of the most crucial chapters in India’s economic history, the film revisits the 1991 financial crisis through a powerful and engaging narrative. Following the positive response to its trailer, the makers have unveiled a new promotional video titled Appointment with the Governor: The Common Man, featuring Manoj Bajpayee reflecting on the remarkable influence of an ordinary individual.

In the video, Manoj Bajpayee says, “History remembers kings, history remembers warriors, but sometimes a common man changes history. Governor wasn't a politician, he wasn't a celebrity, he was just a common man who never stopped fighting.”

Inspired by extraordinary real-life events, Governor brings to life one of the most significant turning points in India’s economic journey. The film explores a period when the nation stood on the edge of a major financial crisis, facing challenges that required resilience, foresight, and decisive action.

At the center of the story is Manoj Bajpayee’s portrayal of a determined Governor entrusted with steering the country through a time of immense uncertainty and pressure. Presented by Sunshine Pictures, the film features impactful dialogues and a gripping narrative. Directed by Chinmay Mandlekar and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, Governor is co-produced by Aashin A. Shah. The screenplay has been written by Suvendu Bhattacharyjee, Saurabh Bharat, Ravi Asrani, and Vipul Amrutlal Shah. The film’s lyrics are penned by Javed Akhtar, while Amit Trivedi has composed the music. Governor is scheduled to hit theatres on June 12, 2026.
