It’s true that average body temperature may differ from person to person but this is dependent on certain underlining factors such as time of the day.A body temperature that has 37ºC (degrees Celsius) or with 0.5ºC variation is considered normal by experts.While variations in body temperature exist, it is important to know that a high temperature can lead to body heat or heat stress.
With body heat or heat stress, it will be difficult for your body to maintain coolness or feel easy within. And if allowed to linger may result in insomnia, fatigue, ulcers, indigestion, and sometimes heat stroke.Several factors like lifestyle, weather conditions, etc. can induce high temperature and heat stress.
# Drink coconut water
One tried and true remedy that helps reduce body heat is coconut water. Aside from its electrolyte composition, this refreshing drink contains a good amount of vitamins and minerals necessary for total body wellness. Drinking a glass of coconut water everyday especially during summer can help fight infections, boost energy, rehydrate your body, and keep you cool all day long.
# Eat high water fruits and vegetables
Rich water fruits and vegetables that are worth considering to help lower body heat include watermelon, honeydew melon, peaches, cantaloupe, Gooseberry, strawberries, cucumber, onions, spinach kale, celery, and cauliflower.
Consuming these foods can help keep the body hydrated and ward off heat stress. Depending on your preference, you can either eat them raw in the form of salad or blend into a healthy smoothie with some ice cubes.
# Consume seed like foods
Fennel, fenugreek, poppy are seed-like foods capable to reduce body heat. The cooling of the effects of these seeds is overwhelming and great as they can also help control body temperature. To treat body heat or heat stress, soak one tablespoonful of fenugreek in a glass of water overnight and drink it first thing the morning before anything else.
The process is not the same with poppy seed as it requires you to grind the seeds with little water to form a paste.

To do this, add some cold water ( add ice cubes if you want) into a clean bucket or bowl, rest your dirt-free feet into the water and soak for 20 minutes. After which dry your feet with a clean towel. For a more cooling effect, add peppermint essential oil to the water before relaxing your feet or apply on feet after water drying them.
# Consider peppermint drink or bath
A drink or bathing water that contains peppermint can deliver an impressive cooling effect on the body. Peppermint contains menthol which is known to have cooling abilities.
To reduce body heat, add a drop or two of peppermint extract into your drinking or bathing water. It will give you instant relief of heat stress. You can also use peppermint leave to prepare hot tea. Add some leaves into a cup of boiling water, allow to boil for 5 minutes, pour the liquid into a cup, and drink when the hotness is reduced.
For bathing, put some fresh peppermint leave into a pot of boiling water, leave to boil for some minutes, take the pot down, strain the leaves, allow to cool, then add to your bathing water. You can use the water to bath normally or soak yourself in it for not more than 30 minutes. Repeat the process every day until your temperature normalizes.
# Use sandalwood
Applying or rubbing sandalwood on your body including face and forehead can help keep your body cool and temperature normal. Sandalwood comes in forms such as soap or powder. Bathing with sandalwood soap when the temperature is high may help relax nerves and give your body a true relief. You can also make a paste with sandalwood and rose water.
- fetch two spoons of sandalwood powder,
- add some water, stir to mix until it forms a paste,
- add some drops of rose water and stir again,
- rub the paste on chest and forehead,
- allow paste to rest on your body for 5 minutes
- then wash off with lukewarm water.
