Non Toxis DIY Dog Shampoo Using Coconut Oil

Has your dog been experiencing hair fall lately? Store-bought shampoo could be the culprit! If you love your dog, but hate the stink, you need to DIY your own aromatic shampoo for your doggie pal. There’s no reason not to – because this diy coconut oil shampoo for dogs is easy, cheap and completely natural and non-toxic, UNLIKE store-bought shampoos!

Did you know that conventional shampoo contains all sorts of harmful ingredients that could be compromising your dog’s health? It’s true! Just take a look at some of the nasty chemicals found in dog shampoo include:

SLS (sodium laureth sulphate): This is what gives shampoos their foaming effect. But this bubble-maker is actually a potent nuero-toxin that is found in commercial rat poisons!

Synthetic fragrances: Your dog shampoo may smell like orchids and spearmint but that’s far from reality. Synthetic fragrances are manufactured in a lab with chemicals that are known as endocrine disruptors and tumor causing substances.

Parabens: Parabens are used as a preservative to extend the shelf life of products. Unfortunately, these are known carcinogens, meaning they cause cancer in dogs!

Ingredients

½ cup of Liquid Castile Soap
¾ cup distilled water
¼ cup of liquid coconut oil
5 drops of lavender oil
5 drops of rosemary oil

Method

* Get a large, preferably glass bottle and using a funnel, transfer all the ingredients into the bottle.

* Now firmly place the cap and shake gently to mix everything together.

* To give your dog a shampoo bath, simply wet his coat all over and then rub the shampoo in with a special dog brush, or your fingers.

* If using a shampoo brush, please be careful as brushing too hard can hurt your dog!

* Now wash off with plenty of water and repeat once or twice more as needed.

* Pat dry. Bathe your dog once every week, and make sure you routinely check your dog’s ears, eyes, mouth and skin folds to prevent fleas and other infections.

Note

* This shampoo is probably not going to be as foamy or bubbly as store-bought shampoo, but I promise you, your dog won’t mind at all!

* The coconut oil added in the recipe makes this shampoo very moisturizing. If you feel like your dog’s coat feels a bit more on the oilier side, this is nothing to worry about.

* Simply use paper towels to give your dog’s fur a light rub down, and enjoy how shiny and healthy his coat looks.
