Dengue is a viral infection borne by mosquito, found in tropical and sub-tropical climates worldwide, mainly in urban and semi-urban areas. Dengue fever is known as break bone fever it is a flu like illness caused due to dengue virus.

It is a virus caused by a mosquito who is already carrying a virus bites a healthy person. There are four types of Dengue viruses namely DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3, And DENV-4 virus enters a mosquito only when it bites already infected person and its get spreaded when it bites a healthy person.

If a person recovers from a dengue he is immune to the specific virus for the rest of your life but your body is equally infected with the other 3 types of virus, and as the risk of developing severe dengue fever increases with the time you infected second third or fourth time. So it is possible to get infected from dengue virus for four times in your lifetime.

Symptoms of Dengue

If you develop the dengue fever, symptoms usually begin in 4-10 days after you get infected. Due to Dengue you feel like a common fever which is not easily identifiable. It causes a fever of 104f degrees along with two of these symptoms;

1 Headache
2 Muscle, bone and joint pain
3 Nausea
4 Vomiting
5 Pain behind the eyes
6 Swollen glands
7 Rash

There are three types of fever a person may effect with, namely – Mild Dengue Fever, Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever and Dengue Shock Syndrome.

Treatment of dengue

There is no such treatment of dengue fever as it is a virus. Its main cure is to know about it on time so that it can help you. There are few basic treatments of dengue fever:

Medication: There should be proper medication for the infected person they should take painkillers like paracetamol and IV drips are sometimes supplemented in case of severe dehydration.

Stay hydrated:

As during dengue we are suffering from vomiting and high fever so our body fluid lost because of that. So you had to continuously take fluid and will make sure hat the body does not easily dehydrate.

Stay Hygienic:

Hygiene is the most important thing you should take care of even when you are not well. Patient should take sponge bath if not able to take daily bath. Sanitize your hands and many more.

Prevention of dengue

There is no vaccination against dengue fever only you have to avoid mosquito bites to prevent it.

Person who travels or lives at an risk area can avoid being bitten in number of ways.

Clothing:


You should avoid the amount of skin exposure by wearing long pants and long sleeves shirts and socks.

Mosquito traps and nets :

Use of mosquito protecting nets with insecticide are more effective that will protect a person from mosquito bites.

Avoid scents:

Heavily scented soaps and perfumes may attract mosquitos.

Stagnant water:

The Aedes mosquito breeds in clean, stagnant water. Checking for and removing stagnant water can help reduce the risk.
