# The Real Purpose:

India gate has been marked prominently as the top-notch landmark of Delhi in the early 20th century. It is located on the Rajpath which is an aid to be situated in the heart of New Delhi. This monument was built ideally to commemorate those brave soldiers who were part of the British Indian Army but unfortunately had lost their lives when they were fighting in the Afgan and World War 1 wars.

Most people are in the misconception that the India gate is the real name of this monument. But the fact is it was changed in the site of the Indian Army’s tomb soon after the country’s independence. # Construction:

Just like the Taj Mahal holds importance and a sign of love India gate is said to be the Martyrs memorial which took quite a long time to build. Nearly 10 years were taken to complete the construction. It was the Duke of Connaught who laid the foundation on February 10th, 1921.
