6 Things To Do In Salzburg That Are Free

Salzburg is a truly charming city, made for walking around and exploring. Divided by the river Salzach into the Altstadt (Old City) and the 19th-century Neustadt (New City), it is famous for being the birthplace of Mozart and as the setting for The Sound of Music. # Stroll through the Altstadt

# Explore the grounds at Schloss Hellbrunn

Castle is a palatial 17th-century villa with sprawling grounds full of hidden treasures. While it may cost €10,50 to enter the Schloss, there is no fee to enter the grounds. The lush lawns are also home to the famous Sound of Music gazebo.

# Visit Salzburg Cathedral

17th-century Salzburger Dom is one of the city’s most iconic buildings. Dedicated to the Saints Rupert and Vergilius, it has an impressive marble facade. While it is free to visit throughout the year, there are also free tours during the Christmas and Festival season.
