Second World War memorial

Lake of no return

Although all the northeastern states of India are famous for the best lakes and waterfalls, this lake of Changlang is famous for its beauty as well as for its name. There is also a story that during the Second World War many enemy soldiers were trapped in this lake which never returned and hence it was named Lake of No Return.

How to reach Changlang?

Changlang district is located in the southeastern corner of Arunachal Pradesh, bounded by Tinsukia district of Assam and Lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh in the north, Tirap district in the west and Myanmar in the southeast. Transport connectivity is not good here, as it does not have its own railway station, airport or even bus-terminal.

The nearest airport is located at 136 km from Changlang in Mohanbari of Dibrugarh in Assam. However, its connectivity is limited. The nearest major airport is in Kolkata. From there you can take a bus or taxi to Changlong.

Tinsukia railway station is the nearest railway station to Changlang. From there you can take a bus or taxi to reach here.

How to reach Changlang by road?

Buses to Changlang are available from most of the nearby cities and towns. Roads have been well maintained.
