Chatpati Vrat Special Makhana Aloo Chaat

Chatpati Vrat Special Makhana Aloo Chaat is a delicious and easy-to-make fasting recipe that brings together the perfect combination of crunch, spice, and tangy flavors. Made with crispy roasted makhana, boiled potatoes, crunchy peanuts, fresh curd, and vrat-friendly spices, this chaat is a wholesome option for Sawan, Navratri, or any fasting day.
Packed with satisfying ingredients, this Makhana Aloo Chaat is light yet filling and can be prepared in just a few minutes. The refreshing taste of lemon, roasted cumin, sendha namak, and pomegranate adds an irresistible chatpata twist, making it a perfect snack for those who want something flavorful while observing a vrat.
Ingredients:
1 cup makhana (fox nuts)
2 medium boiled potatoes, diced
½ cup roasted peanuts, coarsely crushed
½ cup fresh curd
1 green chilli, finely chopped
1 tbsp coriander leaves
1 tsp roasted cumin powder
½ tsp black pepper powder
½ tsp red chilli powder (if permitted during your fast)
1 tsp lemon juice
Sendha namak, to taste
1 tbsp ghee
1–2 tbsp pomegranate seeds
1 tbsp grated coconut (optional)
Method:
Heat ghee in a pan and roast the makhana on low-medium heat until crisp. Allow them to cool.
In the same pan, lightly sauté the boiled potato cubes until they turn slightly golden and crispy.
Take a large bowl and add the roasted makhana, potatoes and crushed peanuts.
Add green chilli, coriander and pomegranate seeds.
Sprinkle roasted cumin powder, black pepper, chilli powder and sendha namak.
Add lemon juice and gently toss everything together.
Top with fresh curd for a creamy, tangy flavour.
Serve immediately while the makhana and potatoes are still slightly crunchy.
