Method

- Rinse the poha in water and drain it thoroughly. Allow it to sit for a few minutes to soften.

- Heat a non-stick pan or a heavy-bottomed pan and add ghee to it.

- Add the grated jaggery to the pan and melt it on low to medium heat, stirring continuously until it forms a syrup of one-string consistency.

- Add the softened poha to the jaggery syrup and mix well. Continue to cook for a few minutes.

- Stir in the grated coconut and cardamom powder, blending them into the mixture.

- Keep stirring until the mixture thickens and comes together into a dough-like consistency.

- Turn off the heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly so that it can be comfortably handled.

- Grease your hands with a little ghee and shape small portions of the mixture into modak-like cones or round modaks.

- Optionally, garnish each modak with a chopped nut for added flavor and texture.

- Your Poha (Flattened Rice) Modaks are ready to be offered to Lord Ganesha or enjoyed as a sweet treat.
