Recipe- Flavorful Fried Cabbage

Fried cabbage is one hearty, and flavorful low-carb side dish. Cabbage is sautéed until buttery tender, then mixed with bacon and mustard for a delicious smoky flavor.Let’s just say, this dish kicks my sautéed cabbage recipe up a notch. All thanks to the addition of bacon, mustard, and a dash of paprika. With these rich and cozy flavors, fried cabbage (a much loved Southern recipe) always brings back a sense of nostalgia. Making it the perfect side to round out your comfort food meals.

Ingredients

6 pieces bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces
1 small onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons stone ground mustard, or Dijon mustard
1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 head cabbage, sliced and chopped
salt and pepper, to taste

Method

* Heat a large pan on medium heat and add the sliced bacon. Cook until crispy, then removed to a paper towel lined plate.

* Add the onion and saute for 2-3 minutes, or until it's translucent.

* Add the garlic, mustard, smoked paprika, salt and pepper and give it a stir to combine. Then place the sliced cabbage on top and use a large spoon or tongs to stir and saute together for another 12-15 minutes.

* When the cabbage is done it should be soft and starting to caramelize. Then toss the bacon back in together.
