Recipe- South Indian Special Mysore Pak

Mysore pak is an Indian sweet prepared in ghee. It originated in the city of Mysore one of the city in the Indian state of Karnataka. It is made of ghee, sugar, gram flour, and often cardamom. The texture of this sweet is similar to a butter cookie. It is traditionally served in weddings and other festivals of southern India. Currently the hard Mysore Pak is slowly being replaced by softer Ghee version called Mysurpa the new version of Mysore Pak.

Ingredients

1/2 Cup Ghee
1/2 Cup Oil
1 Cup Sugar
1/2 Cup Water
1 Cup Gram flour (Besan)
1/4 Tsp Cardamom powder Optional

Method

* In a pan add ghee and oil and bring it to boil.

* In another pan add sugar and water. Let the sugar melt and dissolve completely.

* To this add cardamom powder and bring it to boil.

* When the sugar syrup form a sticky consistency add gram flour and mix well.

* To this add the warm ghee and oil mix gradually some portion at a time.

* Mix it well continuously till the oil is absorbed completely and it began to seperate from the pan.

* In a mould pour the dough batter. Cut them to slices and let it rest for 30-45 minutes. Demold the Mysore pak. Ready to serve.
