These Peanut Butter Banana Cookies are soft, naturally sweet, and incredibly easy to make. Ripe bananas provide natural sweetness and moisture, while peanut butter adds a delicious nutty flavour and a dose of protein. Ingredients

1 large ripe banana
½ cup creamy peanut butter
1 cup rolled oats
½ teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon vanilla essence
¼ teaspoon cinnamon powder
2–3 tablespoons chocolate chips or chopped nuts (optional)
1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional, if you prefer sweeter cookies)
A pinch of salt

Method

# Preheat the oven:

Preheat your oven to 175°C. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.

# Mash the banana:

Peel the ripe banana and place it in a large bowl. Mash thoroughly with a fork until smooth.

# Add peanut butter:

Add the peanut butter and vanilla essence to the mashed banana. Mix well until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy.

# Add the dry ingredients:

Add rolled oats, baking powder, cinnamon powder and a pinch of salt. Mix everything until well combined.

# Add extras:

Fold in chocolate chips or chopped nuts if using. If the banana isn't very sweet, add honey or maple syrup according to taste.

# Shape the cookies:

Scoop out small portions of the mixture and place them on the prepared baking tray. Flatten each portion gently with the back of a spoon because these cookies won't spread much while baking.

# Bake:

Bake for approximately 12–15 minutes, or until the edges turn lightly golden and the cookies look set.

# Cool:

Remove the tray from the oven and let the cookies cool for about 5 minutes. Transfer them to a wire rack and allow them to cool completely.
