'Thoda pressure mein sab hi aate hain': Ajay Devgn Opens Up on Box Office Pressure ahead of Dhamaal 4's release

At the trailer launch event of Dhamaal 4, Ajay Devgn openly spoke about the anxiety that comes with every film release, admitting that no matter how experienced an actor is, a certain level of box-office pressure always exists. He also emphasized that sequels succeed only when audiences emotionally connect with the characters. The upcoming comedy entertainer is scheduled to release in theatres on July 10.

Ajay Devgn, who is gearing up for the next installment of the hit comedy franchise, expressed his excitement about Dhamaal 4 while interacting with the media at the trailer launch on Friday. During the conversation, he discussed the growing popularity of film franchises in Bollywood and why audiences enjoy revisiting familiar characters. He also candidly shared that even after decades in the industry, pre-release nervousness is something he continues to experience.

Ajay Devgn opens up on pre-release pressure

When asked whether he still feels the weight of box-office expectations before a release, Ajay Devgn responded with honesty, acknowledging that the pressure never fully disappears. He said, “Thoda bahut toh rehta hai. Aapne itni mehnat ki hai toh film audience ko pasand aani chahiye aur chalni chahiye. Toh koshish toh yahi rehti hai ki film aisi banaye ki logon ko pasand aaye. Toh jab film release ho rahi hoti hai toh thoda pressure mein sab hi aate hain,” explaining that whenever a film is about to release, every actor inevitably feels a certain level of nervousness because of audience expectations and the effort invested in the project.

What makes a sequel successful, according to Ajay Devgn

The actor also reflected on the formula behind successful film franchises, stating that the foundation lies in audience attachment to characters rather than just storytelling.

He explained, “I think sequel tabhi work karta hai jab uske characters logon ko pasand aajaye. Chahe yeh (Dhamaal 4) le lijiye, Golmaal le lijiye. Woh characters ko naam se jaante hain. Ek baar characters ke saath audience jud jaati hai na toh we can take the story forward,” highlighting that once viewers develop a strong bond with the characters, filmmakers gain the freedom to expand the narrative across multiple installments.

About the Dhamaal franchise

The Dhamaal series first began in 2007 with its debut film, which quickly became a comedy favorite among audiences. It was followed by Double Dhamaal in 2011, continuing the chaotic adventures of its popular ensemble cast. Ajay Devgn later joined the franchise with Total Dhamaal, which also performed strongly at the box office and expanded the film’s reach even further.

With all previous installments enjoying commercial success and strong audience recall, expectations are now high for the fourth chapter. Dhamaal 4 is set to arrive in cinemas on July 10, promising another round of comedy-driven entertainment for fans of the franchise.
