Bhojpur is 32 km away from capital city of Madhya Pradesh .There is a huge, unfinished Shiva temple on the hill overlooking Bhojpur. It is popularly known as Bhojpur Shiv Temple (Bhojpur Shiv Temple) or Bhojeshwar Temple. Bhojpur and this Shiva temple were built by famous King Bhoj (1010 AD - 1055 AD) of the Parmar dynasty. This temple has its many features.

# The first feature of this temple is its huge Shivling which is the largest Shivling (World's tallest Shiv Linga) made of the same stone of the world. The entire Shivaling height is 5.5 meters (18 feet), diameter 2.3 meters (7.5 feet), and only the length of the penis is 3.85 meters (12 feet).

# The second feature is the slope built in the back part of Bhojeshwar Temple, which was used to carry huge stones during the construction of the temple. Such ancient gorgeous construction techniques are not available to reach ingredients anywhere in the world. It is a proof that this mystery has been revealed that how huge stones of 70 tons of weight were brought to the top of the temple.

# The third feature of Bhojeshwar Temple it is incompletely constructed. There is no convincing evidence of why its construction was incomplete, but it is said that this temple was to be built on one night but the roof was completed in the morning just before the work was completed, hence the work remained incomplete.

# The fourth feature is Bhojeshwar Temple that is a domed roof. The construction of this temple was done before the arrival of Islam in India, hence the incomplete domed roof made on the sanctum of this temple has proved the practice of dome creation in India itself. Even though the techniques of their creation vary. Some schools consider it to be the first domed roofing building in India. The door of this temple is also the largest of any Hindu temple.

# In this famous site, annual fair is organized twice a year, which is during Makar Sankranti and Mahashivaratri festival. People come here from far away to participate in this religious festival. A three-day Bhojpur festival has also been organized here at Mahashivaratri.
