First Look Of Ajay Devgan In And As Tanaji Is OUT

The director of Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior, Om Raut posted the first look of Ajay Devgn who is playing the titular role of the film, yesterday on his twitter handle. Going by the below picture one can see Ajay Devgn in the classic Subedar outfit, holding a sword whose eyes are filled with fierceness. Om captioned the picture as, ‘Happy New Year!!! Har Har Mahadev!!! @ajaydevgn @TanhajiFilm’.

For those uninitiated, Tanaji Malusare was a military leader in the Maratha Empire. He fought alongside Shivaji Maharaj in various battles throughout the years. He is most famously known for his role in the Battle of Sinhagad in 1670 A.D. It is said that he was so brave that during the battle with Mughals in order to recapture Kondhana fort near Pune, Tanaji literally broke his shield and continued fighting by tying his upper garment over his defending hand in order to ward off Udaybhan’s blows. The fort was eventually conquered, but in the process, Tanaji was gravely wounded and died fighting on the battlefield.

Talking about the film, Saif Ali Khan will also be playing an important character. Although nothing has been officially confirmed it is reported that Saif will be playing the role of Udaybhan Rathod. Apart from Saif and Ajay, the film also stars Kajol and Suneil Shetty essaying the roles of Lakshmi bai and Mirza Raja Jai Singh respectively. The film will release on November 22, 2019.
