Valentines Special- 5 Horror Movies To Help You Celebrate Single hood

Valentines’ Day is time of love, romance, cheesy display of affection and surely huge profits for greeting card companies, flower companies and chocolate shops. It’s a day that requires loved ones to shower each other with affection and can make people who are not in relationships feel inadequate.

Interestingly, Valentines’ Day is also known as Singles Awareness Day, comes with a mixture of feelings. Some will be getting dressed up to go on a date while others will be planning to watch movies. But not everyone loves the idea of romantic comedies, so here are a few of the top horror-themed movies featuring bad romances, bloody sexcapades, and twisted love stories to watch on this otherwise love-centered holiday.

* IT (1990)

It is a 1990 American supernatural horror drama miniseries from the Stephen King novel of the same name. The story revolves around a predatory shape-shifter which has the ability to transform itself into it’s prey’s worst fears, allowing it to exploit the phobias of it’s victims. It mostly takes the human form of a sadistic, wisecracking clown called Pennywise. It is more scarier than the remake which was released last year. ‘It’ or Pennywise, the dancing clown made us realize that a horror movie is just not about fear but more than that.

* 1920

1920, Indian horror film by Vikram Bhatt, revolved around the events surrounding a married couple living in a haunted house in the year 1920. It was the first instalment of the 1920 film series. It marked the debut of Rajneesh Duggal and Adah Sharma. The film was closely based on the 1973 horror cult classic ‘The Exorcist’.

* Annabelle: Creation

‘Annabelle: Creation’ is the fourth film in the ‘Conjuring’ franchise. The film depicts how the cursed doll came into being and killed many through her evil existence. The demon inside the doll possesses a teenage orphan and makes her kill others.

* Bhoot

Ajay Devgn and Urmila Matondkar-starrer ‘Bhoot’, released in 2003, may not appear to be something special. It’s just a film featuring someone being possessed by a spirit but it follows the concept that love can be violent if in the hand s of wrong person. Check it out strictly for Urmila’s performance as a women possessed, it’s crazy in the best way.

* Raat

Raat, a Indian Hindi supernatural thriller film was directed by Ram Gopal Varma. It remained a cult classic and was dubbed in Telugu as ‘Raatri’. Interestingly, this was the final Bollywood film which was shot using 70mm Negative. With “Bhoot” Ram Gopal Verma scared everyone out there with his innovative camera tricks and brilliant use of sound effects in the year 2003.
