The human body is naturally equipped to signal when something isn’t right. However, we often tend to ignore these warning signs. Some symptoms, though uncommon or lesser-known, could indicate serious underlying conditions and should not be overlooked.
It's important to be aware of such symptoms at the earliest. If you or someone close to you experiences any of the following signs, it is strongly advised to consult a doctor without delay.
Cancer is a group of diseases that can manifest in various ways depending on the type, location, size, and extent of spread. When cancer metastasizes (spreads), symptoms may also appear in other parts of the body.
In this article, we highlight some lesser-known and early warning signs of cancer that you should be aware of:
# Skin Neoplasms
Unusual growths or lumps on the skin, especially in the breast or armpit area, may signal breast cancer. These may appear as hard knots, accompanied by skin irritation, rashes, or noticeable changes in breast shape.

# Persistent Cough
A lingering cough, especially when paired with loss of appetite or sudden weight loss, could be a sign of lung cancer. In advanced stages, it may also include coughing up blood and difficulty breathing.
# Unusual Skin Itching
While itching is not always a sign of cancer, in certain cases it may be. For example, a uterine tumor can cause genital itching, and brain tumors may lead to itching inside the nostrils.

# Changes in Bowel Habits
Symptoms like blood in the stool, mucus or pus-like discharge, or frequent, unprompted bowel movements could indicate cancer in the intestinal region.
# Unusual Urinary Secretions
Blood in the urine or unusual secretions might be early signs of kidney cancer. Other symptoms may include high blood pressure, lower back or kidney pain, and persistent fatigue.

# Sudden Weight Loss
Unexpected and rapid weight loss can point to stomach cancer. Other associated symptoms may include aversion to meat, early satiety (feeling full quickly), anemia, and digestive difficulties.
# Persistent Sore Throat
A sore throat that doesn’t heal could be a symptom of laryngeal (voice box) cancer. Additional symptoms may include difficulty swallowing or breathing and the sensation of a lump in the throat.
