Delicious Apple Pie

Apple pie is one of the most loved and timeless desserts, celebrated for its warm, comforting flavors and irresistible aroma. Made with tender, spiced apples tucked inside a flaky, golden crust, this classic treat perfectly balances sweetness and subtle tartness in every bite. Ingredients

For the Pie Crust (2 crusts)


2½ cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp salt

1 tbsp sugar

1 cup cold unsalted butter (cut into cubes)

6–8 tbsp ice-cold water

(You can also use ready-made pie crusts to save time.)

For the Apple Filling

6–7 medium apples (Granny Smith or Fuji work best)

¾ cup sugar (adjust to taste)

2 tbsp all-purpose flour or cornflour

1 tsp cinnamon powder

¼ tsp nutmeg (optional)

1 tbsp lemon juice

1 tsp vanilla essence

A pinch of salt

For Brushing

1 egg + 1 tbsp milk (egg wash)

1 tbsp sugar (for sprinkling)

Method

# Prepare the Pie Dough


In a bowl, mix flour, salt, and sugar.

Add cold butter and rub it into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.

Gradually add ice water and bring the dough together (don’t knead).

Divide into two discs, wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

# Make the Apple Filling

Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples.

In a bowl, combine apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, vanilla, and salt.

Toss well and let it rest for 10–15 minutes.

# Assemble the Pie

Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F).

Roll out one dough disc and line a greased pie dish.

Add the apple filling evenly.

Roll out the second disc and place it on top. Seal and crimp the edges.

Cut small slits on top for steam.

Brush with egg wash and sprinkle sugar.

# Bake

Bake for 45–50 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.

If the edges brown too quickly, cover them with foil.

# Cool & Serve

Let the pie cool for at least 1 hour before slicing.

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
