Bihar Man Arrested for Sharing AI-Generated Fake Videos of PM Modi and President Murmu

In a significant development in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, a man has been taken into custody for allegedly producing and circulating AI-manipulated videos and audio clips of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu on social media, police officials confirmed on Friday.

The accused has been identified as Pramod Kumar Raj, a resident of Bhagwanpur under the Bochaha police station jurisdiction. Authorities stated that Raj allegedly created and shared falsified content using the images, voices, and names of the nation’s top leaders.

Police officials explained that the purpose behind distributing such AI-generated content was to mislead the public, undermine the credibility and respect associated with the highest constitutional offices, foster distrust in democratic institutions, and potentially disturb social harmony and law and order.

To handle the case, the district police formed a special investigation team, which successfully arrested the accused. The mobile phone reportedly used to create and disseminate the fake videos and audio clips has also been seized as evidence.

Authorities warned that such fabricated material carries the potential to incite anti-national sentiment, spread misinformation, and trigger public unrest.

A formal case has been registered, and investigations are ongoing. Police are also scrutinizing the accused’s prior criminal record to uncover any history of similar offenses.
