Sony has unveiled its latest Bravia Theatre home audio lineup in India, offering consumers greater flexibility to create a cinematic entertainment experience with compatible Bravia TVs. The new range comprises the Bravia Theatre Trio, Bar 7, Bar 5, Sub 9, Sub 8, Rear 9, and Rear 8, with launch prices starting at Rs 29,990 and extending up to Rs 1,69,990.
The new lineup targets users seeking immersive television audio without being restricted to a traditional soundbar-only setup. Sony is providing a mix of soundbars, wireless subwoofers, and rear speakers, alongside a new Bravia Direct Connect feature that enables select Bravia TVs to connect directly with compatible speakers.
Bravia Theatre Trio Headlines the New Range
Leading the lineup is the Bravia Theatre Trio, Sony’s premium home audio solution. Unlike conventional soundbars, it features dedicated left, centre, and right speaker units, a design intended to deliver a broader soundstage and more accurate dialogue placement, particularly with larger television screens.
The system supports Dolby Atmos and DTS audio formats. When combined with the Bravia Theatre Sub 9 and Rear 9 speakers, Sony’s spatial audio technology can generate up to 24 virtual phantom speakers for a more immersive surround-sound experience. The Bravia Theatre Trio carries an MRP of Rs 2,39,990 but will be available at a special launch price of Rs 1,69,990 from July 1, 2026.
For users preferring a traditional soundbar setup, Sony has introduced two options. The Bravia Theatre Bar 7 sits at the premium end of the range, featuring nine speaker drivers, side- and up-firing speakers, four passive radiators, Dolby Atmos support, and IMAX Enhanced certification.
Powered by Sony’s 360 Spatial Sound Mapping technology, the Bar 7 creates a virtual surround-sound environment throughout the room. It is priced at Rs 82,990 during the launch period, compared to its MRP of Rs 99,990, and will be available from July 1, 2026. Meanwhile, the more affordable Bravia Theatre Bar 5 will launch on August 18, 2026, at Rs 29,990, down from its MRP of Rs 37,990.
Wireless Subwoofers, Rear Speakers, and Bravia Direct Connect
The Bravia Theatre Bar 5 is a 3.1-channel sound system that includes a wireless subwoofer. It supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X audio formats and features a dedicated centre channel for improved vocal clarity. Compatible Bravia TVs can also take advantage of Sony’s Voice Zoom 3 technology, which enhances speech in movies, television shows, and live sports content.
To expand surround-sound setups, Sony has introduced two wireless subwoofers. The Bravia Theatre Sub 9 features a powerful 600W amplifier and a dual-subwoofer design with opposing drivers that help minimise vibrations. The Bravia Theatre Sub 8, equipped with a 300W amplifier, offers a more affordable way to add deeper bass performance.
The Sub 9 will launch at Rs 79,990, while the Sub 8 will be available for Rs 34,990. Both models will go on sale from August 3, 2026. Sony has also announced the Rear 9 and Rear 8 wireless rear speakers, priced at Rs 58,990 and Rs 39,990 respectively, with availability beginning July 1, 2026.
One of the standout features of the new ecosystem is Bravia Direct Connect. This functionality allows compatible Bravia TVs to connect directly with supported Bravia Theatre subwoofers and rear speakers without requiring a soundbar as the main hub. Users can therefore expand their setup gradually by adding rear channels, extra bass, or both over time.
The complete Bravia Theatre lineup will be available through Sony Centre and Sony Exclusive stores, as well as Amazon and Flipkart. With this launch, Sony is strengthening its focus on modular home-theatre solutions, allowing customers to start with a basic setup and upgrade seamlessly with wireless speakers and subwoofers as their needs evolve.
